When and where does the Webathon take place?
Saturday 10th November in AIB's Technology Campus at Central Park
What's the competition?
Students must design and build a problem-solving website around this year's theme of 'inclusion'. This could be an imaginary company or service, an educational website or a social activist/volunteer site. Suggested themes are accessibility, ability, race, gender, sexuality, age, wealth, education, or vulnerability.
AIB experts will be on hand during the 5 hour Webathon to guide and coach.
Entrants can use any tool they wish to take part (including template sites like Wix and Wordpress), but bonus points will be awarded for original design and coding.
Points are primarily awarded on the quality of idea and pitching skills.
Who can enter?
Students aged 16-18 in second-level education in the Republic of Ireland. TY students aged under 16 can participate if accompanied by a teacher or guardian.
How to Enter:
Applicants in teams of two must submit their website idea to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday 19th October.
The event will run from 8.30-3pm. Breakfast, lunch and refreshments are provided.
- The winners of the Webathon competition will receive and iPad each and €1000 for their school's IT department
- Runners up will receive tech gadgets
- Spot prizes and goodie bags are available on the day
