We love doing group work in our class. Unfortunately we have to move from room to room every day and this can be annoying. Our school has recently undergone some building work and one the classes has been rearranged to facilitate group work. No longer are two students sitting next to each other and facing forward...we are now sitting at group tables and WE LOVE IT! Bring on the collaboration!

The beautiful language of English is full of cliches, idioms and strange sayings. A lot of these cliches are very old and can make little sense to today's students. In English class, we decided to create our own sayings and malapropisms from everyday cliches. Here are the ten most amusing (if not correct) examples:

10. Don't bite the hand ... you pick your nose with

9. The pen is mightier than the ... pencil

8. You can lead a horse to water ... but you can't lead me on

7. Strike while the ... keeper is tying his lace

6. A rolling stone ... can cause injury

5.You can lead a horse to water ... but it might run away

4. No news ... means the satellite cannot get the signal

3. An idle mind is ... my sister on a good day

2. A bird in the hand ... is most likely going to poo on you

and my personal favourite...

1. A miss is as good as a ... sir
